Dear colleagues,

Preparations for the 73rd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Anesthesiologists (May 21-23, 2026, Pacifico Yokohama) are steadily underway. Today, I would like to inform you of some progress and requests.

First, the plans of the Scientific Assembly Committee have begun to emerge, and the framework of an academically rich program is beginning to emerge. We will continue to devise ways to provide a venue for meaningful presentations and discussions for many of you. The detailed program will be available in the near future, but please look forward to it.

We also plan to release the theme-designated abstracts as soon as possible. We look forward to receiving a wide variety of abstracts, including interesting research results and practical reports. Your participation will directly contribute to the success of the conference, so we encourage you to submit your abstracts.

With an emphasis on international perspectives, we plan to have English-language presentation sessions again this year. This will be an excellent opportunity to deepen exchanges and information with overseas researchers, so why not try your hand at presenting in English? Early preparation is the key to success.

In addition to the training courses for the renewal of medical specialties, we are also preparing for the JMSB (Japan Medical Specialty Board) common training courses, which will be mandatory in the future. These courses will share the latest knowledge in anesthesiology and will include content that will contribute to the development of the medical specialty system. We hope that you will find them useful for your career development.

The call for general abstracts is now open for about 10 months. We encourage you to start preparing now to present a wide variety of research results, including prospective and retrospective studies, meta-analysis studies, and interesting case reports. We hope that many of you will actively participate in this valuable opportunity to deepen academic discussion and contribute to the development of healthcare.

As for my personal interest, I have great expectations for the use of AI in the field of anesthesiology and collaboration among multidisciplinary medical professionals. I would very much like to hear from those who are interested in these topics. We hope that this will be a forum where new ideas and initiatives can be shared and contribute to the future of medicine.

We will continue to do our best in preparing for the conference so that it will be meaningful for all of you. Your continued support and cooperation will be greatly appreciated.
